Frank, I really like the concept here. For testing, though, I don't think the distribution of topics is very good. Mathematics, biology, geography and so on... these are particularly academic topics, and don't match the interests of the great swath of new users. For an initial test just to see if the concept works, I would suggest a set of topics along these lines:

  • Arts & entertainment
  • People
  • Places
  • Science & technology
  • History
  • Current events

I think those cover a much wider portion of the immediate interests of newcomers. I assume that the lists of suggested articles to work on will ulimately be generated automatically based on the intersection between cleanup categories and content categories? (As a proof of concept, I found 87 pages needing cleanup linked from the 'current events' portal, which is probably enough to be useful. All of the other categories should have an overabundance of articles with cleanup tags.)--Sage Ross (talk) 15:22, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
