Hiring for a Grants Evaluation Associate at WMF[edit]

Author: Sati Houston

Community Resources team Wikimedia Foundation 2017 - 2

Summary: Community Resources at WMF is hiring a Grants Evaluation Associate, to help us understand the impact of the WMF grant programs today, and how has it changed or evolved over time. This would be a part-time contractor role for 6 months, with the possibility of extending up to 1 year. Apply here.

The Community Resources team at WMF enables individuals, small groups of volunteers, recognized Wikimedia organizations and partner entities to contribute to Wikimedia’s mission and vision. We are one of the largest participatory grantmaker, distributing about $6M annually in over 60 countries.

Currently, the team is striving to better understand the impact of the programs and organizations we fund. It’s important for us to understand not just our impact at a single point in time, but create a way to update this understanding as outputs and outcomes change and evolve in the future.

As our Evaluation Associate for the Community Resources team, you will support the evaluation of 2+ years of grants awarded by our team. This will include working closely with our Senior Strategist, and activities will include answering the following questions:

  • What is the impact of the WMF grant programs today? How has it changed or evolved over time?
  • What should be our strategy of tracking the long term impact of our investments?
  • What should be our strategy for continually monitoring and updating our understanding of “impact” as grant programs grow and change over time?

We would love for you to join our team as we embark on this big project. Feel free to reach out to Sati Houston with any questions, or apply online here.
