Edu Wiki camp in Serbia introduces students to Wikipedia

Summary: Wikimedia Serbia has organized second Edu Wiki camp in Vrnjačka Banja.

Article: The second Edu Wiki camp, organized by Wikimedia Serbia, was held in Vrnjačka Banja from July 17th to 21st, 2017. The camp gathered 16 students from different parts of Serbia who expressed their interest in actively joining the Education Program of Wikimedia Serbia and other Wiki programs and projects. During the camp, participants were learning about activities and projects of Wikimedia Serbia, our Education program, as well as about CC licenses. Inspiring atmosphere was created at the workshop about public speech, during which participants had the opportunity to learn how to establish first contact with an educational institution and present the Education program. The most ideas were produced by the Mini projects workshop. During that workshop, participants were divided into four groups and they practiced how to write projects. The campers also had an opportunity to visit natural and cultural-historical monuments of Kraljevo, Trstenik and Vrnjacka Banja. They took photos of the Ljubostinja monastery, rivers Ibar and West Morava, numerous places in Vrnjačka Banja, Trstenik Heritage Museum, and many other natural and cultural attractions they have visited. The camp was finished with a certificate awarding ceremony, during which the participants pointed out that their expectations were fulfilled, and that they learned new things that they can apply on all Wiki projects. They especially emphasized the interactivity of the lectures and communication with the organizers. We believe that all campers will continue to spread the idea and the mission of free knowledge, and that they will become new ambassadors at the faculties and the communities they come from.
