For the second time around, Wikimedia Norway this January visited Åsane Folkehøgskole - Åsane Folk High School - to do a one-day Wikipedia editing workshop.

Students at Åsane folkehøgskole editing their first Wikipedia articles

Folk high schools are a phenomenon existing in Scandinavia and in a few other countries in Western Europe. The Scandinavian model is one where young adults spend one year after high school and often before higher education at these schools, focusing on self-development and following different courses and classes that often are not taught within the ordinary education system. The students we did wiki training with are in a group working on Globale perspectives - understanding power structures in the world and working on how to make a change. A perfect group to introduce to the democratic world of Wikimedia and free knowledge.

- Wikipedia is a tool so many of us in our everyday lives, yet have little knowledge of made. Learning to edit Wikipedia is a unique way to make sure the knowledge my students have is shared, says Åse Schytte, teacher at Åsane Folkehøgskole

The students all had prepared texts in beforehand, many of them related to a project the students are sponsoring and collaborating with in Kanakapura, India, helping children who have been rescued from trafficking and sexual exploitation.
