As a part of our partnership with the Institute for Modern Education, Wikimedia Serbia participated in the Summer IT School for Teachers. The workshop was held on August 21st and was one of several events that teachers could attend at this Institute. Teachers went through the theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, they listened the lectures on Wikimedia Serbia, the use of Wikipedia in class, and in the practical part they had an assignment to write an article on Wikipedia. The teachers showed a high level of motivation and most of the questions were about why Wikipedia is not a relevant source, who controls the content on Wikipedia and how we can all improve Wikipedia. We took this opportunity to invite teachers to participate in one of the upcoming Wikimedia seminars for teachers in Serbia. The workshop was held by Nebojša Ratković, Educational Program Manager, and Ivan Matejić, a longtime Wikimedia volunteer in Serbia and a teacher of Geography. Teachers were able to attend the whole event at the Institute, as well as online through a video stream that was only available to participants.
