Description
English: The Amsterdam wood merchant Johannes de Ram (deceased c 1693) was active as map publisher between 1678 and 1693. De Ram purchased old copper plates at auctions which he later published under his own name. The copper plate for this world map was originally in the possession of the Amsterdam map publisher Hugo Allard (deceased 1691). Prints of this map appeared from 1683 in the atlases by Johannes van Keulen (1654-1715), the most important European publisher of ocean charts.
