English: Scenes of Alva (Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, 3rd Duke of Alba) arresting the counts of Egmond (Lamoral, Count of Egmont) and Horne (Philip de Montmorency, Count of Horn) in Brussels, 10 September 1567, after his invitation to discuss matters over a meal. Latin poem:

    Conveniunt Proceres Belgarum, pectore fido,
    Egmondaeque Hornaeque duces quae fronte serenâ
    Texerat Albanus, iam prodit, iussit utrumque
    E templo vinctum tenebroso carcere claudi

(Proceres = nobles)

Captions: "Hertog van Alva", "Egmond" 2x.
Nederlands: Arrestatie van de graven van Egmond en Horne door de Hertog van Alva, Hof van Culemborg aan de Zavel in Brussel, 10 september 1567, na een eetafspraak met Alva. Achterin een zaal staat Alva op van tafel. Op de voorgrond legt Alva zijn hand op de schouder van Egmond. Horne wordt rechts een trap afgesleept. Links is door een raam zichtbaar hoe Egmond onder zware bewaking wordt afgevoerd. Bijschriften: "Hertog van Alva", "Egmond" 2x. Latijns gedicht zie boven.
