Delpher biedt toegang tot miljoenen gedigitaliseerde pagina's uit Nederlandse historische kranten, boeken en tijdschriften. Het is een veelgebruikte bron in de Nederlandstalige Wikipedia. In dit artikel bekijken we hoe vaak er in welke Wikipedia-artikelen verwezen wordt naar Delpher, en welke Delpher-pagina’s het vaakst worden geciteerd. Ook speuren we naar Wikipedia-artikelen die geheel of grotendeels op Delpher zijn gebaseerd.

De belangrijkste punten (per 17 januari 2025) uit dit artikel zijn:

  • 15.569 verschillende Wikipedia-artikelen bevatten gezamenlijk 45.409 links naar 43.063 verschillende pagina’s in Delpher.
  • Deze verwijzingen zijn voornamelijk naar kranten (38.530 URLs), gevolgd door boeken (4.923 URLs) en tijdschriften (1.872 URLs).
  • Er zijn 61 Wikipedia-artikelen die (bijna) geheel op basis van Delpher-inhoud geschreven zijn. M.a.w.: zij danken hun bestaan voor een belangrijk deel aan Delpher.
  • De onderliggende ruwe data waar dit artikel gebruik van maakt is beschikbaar op GitHub.


Het gebruik van DBNL in Nederlandstalige Wikipedia-artikelen, september 2024
Een vergelijkbare analyse is beschikbaar voor de Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren (DBNL). In dit artikel bekijken we hoe vaak er (per 5 september 2024) in welke Wikipedia-artikelen verwezen wordt naar de DBNL, en welke DBNL-pagina’s het vaakst worden geciteerd. Ook speuren we naar Wikipedia-artikelen die geheel of grotendeels op de DBNL zijn gebaseerd.

Delpher provides access to millions of digitized pages from Dutch historical newspapers, books and magazines. It is a frequently used source in the Dutch Wikipedia. In this article we look at how often Delpher is referred to in which Wikipedia articles, and which Delpher pages are cited most often. We also search for Wikipedia articles that are entirely or largely based on Delpher.

The most important points (as of January 17, 2025) from this article are:

  • 15,569 distinct Wikipedia articles together contain 45,409 links to 43,063 unique pages in Delpher.
  • These references are mainly to newspapers (38,530 URLs), followed by books (4,923 URLs) and magazines (1,872 URLs).
  • There are 61 Wikipedia articles that are (almost) entirely based on Delpher content. In other words: they owe their existence to a large extent to Delpher.
  • The underlying raw data that this article uses is available on GitHub.


A similar analysis is available for the Digital Library for Dutch Literature (DBNL). In this article we look at how often (as of September 5, 2024) which Wikipedia articles refer to the DBNL, and which DBNL pages are cited most often. We also search for Wikipedia articles that are entirely or largely based on the DBNL.
