Summary
| Description |
English: An animation of the Snoek Effect. By stretching the grating along the z-axis, the x and y carbon atoms (light colour) have no more room in the lattice between the iron atoms (dark colour). The carbon that is thus no longer bound diffuses into the material. By changing the composition, the material properties change.
Deutsch: Eine Animation des Snoek-Effekts. Durch Streckung des Gitters entlang der z-Achse haben die x- und y-Kohlenstoffatome (hell, später bläulich markiert) keinen Platz mehr im Gitter zwischen den Eisenatomen (dunkel). Die dadurch nicht mehr gebundenen Kohlenstoffe diffundieren in das Material. Durch die Änderung der Zusammensetzung ändern sich auch die Materialeigenschaften. |
