Celebrating the English Wikipedia’s Birthday in Albania!
English Wikipedia Day in Tirana
On February 1, 2025, Wikimedians of Albanian Language User Group planned an event in Tirana, Albania, to celebrate the English Wikipedia’s birthday, a significant platform for free knowledge worldwide. The event brought together Wikimedians, students, and contributors to reflect on Wikipedia’s impact and contribute to its growth.
As English Wikipedia remains the main resource worldwide thanks to its dedicated contributors, we wanted to highlight its role in digital literacy, fact-checking, and open education, basic editing, compare and contrast En Wikipedia and Sq Wikipedia. The event included discussions and a collaborative editing activity. Participants shared experiences and reflected upon strengthening the Albanian Wikimedia community.
