International Archives Week 2025
The International Archives Week had the subject accessibilty, archives for everyone. Running from the 9th until the 13th of June it is a celebration of the work done in archives. Wikimedia CH hostet a panel discussion on the different approaches of archiving and digitizing. Archiving practice can be complex regarding the different working ways. Looking into the past might change the view of today. With artistic practice objects can be put up to life by putting past objects in relation with today's reality. An edit-a-thon on a theme that is presented and worked on by scientists can be fruitful for both sides: wikimedians and institution. The goals and the ideas can be found on the project page.
SAPA Performing Arts

The SAPA project is getting bigger. Wikidata items will be linked with the images on commons. As performing arts is a fluid medium that disappears normally straight after the performance this project makes it more durable. For the Wiki projects it can be quite inspiring as it puts human life into tech platforms in a more traditional way refering to human values in the performing arts. The SAPA archive is community based and works also with volunteers. Showing the theatre and performance history can be helpful for understanding today's performance practice.
Once GLAM institutions have entered open licensed data and media they will be shown in the Cassandra GLAM statistical tool that maps the landscape of Swiss cultural institutions.
GLAM Meeting Biel/Bienne

As last event of the GLAM meeting series we did a workshop with ceramics together inviting also the director of the museum. The idea was to connect not only via laptops but also as human beings. Together several objects referring to masks were created. While working on the objects conversations on personal stories and experiences refering to the creating object were told. Shifting perspectives creates a space for reflecting on the diversity of value systems and knowledge forms. It offers an opportunity to rethink the familiar, challenge ingrained habits, and open up possibilities for structural and societal change. In a contemplative atmosphere of shared practice, solidarity can be strengthen by practice, exchanging, and reflection.
