Wikipedia edit-a-thon at the Skampa Theater in Elbasan, Albania
On September 22, 2025, the stage of the Skampa Theater in Elbasan became, for one day, the space for editing and sharing knowledge on Wikipedia.
In collaboration with the Skampa Theater, Wikimedians of Albanian Language User Group organized an edit-a-thon dedicated to documenting the culture, art, and artists of Skampa Theater since its opening and early performance shows.
Within a day the local community created 13 articles and edited 44 articles about actors, performances, and the theater’s history, making sure that this cultural legacy of Elbasan is represented on Wikipedia. Participants came from different backgrounds, including students, theater’s employers, librarians, and theater’s spectators, and had the chance to learn how Wikipedia works, gaining skills to continue learning on their own in the future.
Once again, the collaborations with cultural institutions tell us the importance of preserving the collective memory and remind us that this work will continue.
