Region Description[edit]

Current Regions.

Today, Region 10 includes California and Hawaii. The most logical sub-division is to separate Northern and Southern California, with Hawaii left whole. As participation and Regional Ambassador capacity grows, this California sub-division will be made official, in order to best manage all the projects in the region.

In fact, Region 10 was originally divided into Northern California and Southern California, with Hawaii covered in the Great Lakes Region (along with Alaska).[1] Regions at that time were based on anticipated workload for the next year. However, adjustments were made by the Regional Ambassadors at the Wikipedia in Higher Education Summit in early July 2011. The current configuration was chosen because it most closely organizes states for which Ambassadors can provide support.
