Email updates[edit]

Updates are sent to the Education Collaborative mailing list about the tasking activity, members joined/left, and the expected meetings and events. The following is a summary of the updates sent since August 2015 in a chronological order.

August 24, 2015[edit]

Tasking activity since the beginning of the Collab improvements in summer 2015 included:
  • 22 new tasks were added to the tasklist.
  • 10 of the 22 tasks were claimed by Collab members.
  • There are 3 tasks got completed. The first one was accomplished by Roxana: finished the translation of the Editing Wikipedia brochure into Spanish. See the translation here. The second was a newletter post by Sara. See the post here, and the third was a quick start guide for students in the Arab World, done by Reem. See it here. Please join me in thanking Roxana, Sara and Reem for completing these task.
Membership:

Since the beginning of the Collab improvements this summer we have received 6 new membership requests. 5 of them got approved. We are happy to welcome Alex, Vassia, Roxana, Sara and Walaa to the Collab. Most of the new members started working on new tasks immediately after joining the Collab.

September 14, 2015[edit]

Tasking activity since the previous update was sent includes:
  • 12 new tasks were added.
  • 6 of the 12 new tasks were claimed by Collab members.
  • 2 new tasks got completed. The first one was accomplished by Reem: She has given an introduction to a new program leader in Syria. The second has been done by Walaa. Walaa has created a new editing brochure for students in Egypt. See the brochure here. Thank you, Reem and Walaa!!
  • We started using Phabricator to manage Collab tasks for the first time thanks to Tighe's efforts. Find details about it below.
Phabricator:

As you saw last week, Tighe has created the Collab project on Phabricator and moved the tasks on Outreach tasklist to it (See the list on Phabricator).

  • Now,13 of the Collab members are now on Phabricator.
  • All tasks were moved to it.

Phabricator works better/easier for task management. You can find some tips on how to join Phabricator here. If you face any trouble with Phabricator, please let me/Tighe know.

October 6, 2015[edit]

Tasking activity since the previous update was sent includes:
  • 22 new tasks were created.
  • 20 tasks were claimed by members.
  • 16 tasks were completed.

These are the highest numbers achieved since we started the Collab improvements last summer and this is the highest activity level ever of the Collab since it has started. Congratulations to everyone of us on these great achievements.

October 28, 2015[edit]

New members joining this month:
  • Yesterday we were happy to welcome a new member to the Collab, Melina Masnatta from Argentina. Welcome Melina.

  • 26 new tasks were created.
  • 16 tasks were claimed by members.
  • 6 tasks were completed.

November 19, 2015[edit]

New members joining this month:
  • This week we were happy to welcome Venus Lui from Hong Kong. Welcome Venus!
Tasking activity since the previous update was sent includes:
  • 6 new tasks were created.
  • 4 tasks were claimed by members.
  • 3 tasks were completed.

December 16, 2015[edit]

Tasking activity since the previous update was sent includes:
  • 13 new tasks were created.
  • 12 tasks were claimed by members.
  • 10 tasks were completed.

December 30, 2015[edit]

Tasking activity since the previous update was sent includes:
  • 8 new tasks were created.
  • 8 tasks were claimed by members.
  • 9 tasks were completed.

January 19, 2016[edit]

The first three weeks of the new year were generally quiet where one new task was created and two other tasks were marked completed. The quieter activity is certainly due to the holidays around the world. There is nothing to worry about.

February 5, 2016[edit]

Tasking activity since the previous update was sent includes:

12 new tasks were created. 11 tasks were claimed. 6 tasks were completed.

Surveys[edit]

As you have seen in Edward's email. Edward is offering help with providing templated surveys for your programs. This will be a great opportunity to track the changes happening to your programs. For more information, please check out this Phabricator ticket.

  • The next in-person meeting will take place on March 5 and 6, 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden.
  • Updates and notes from the meeting will be documented here once available.

Online meetings[edit]

The Collab members meet via Google Hangout on a monthly basis since September 2015. Please find the notes and details here:
