Please help us better understand and enhance the India education system, by sharing your knowledge and observations on the following topics! Also, I am sure there are other very important learning points that do not fall under these listed topics, so please add your own sections to this page! The most important thing is for us to capture the main learning points from this summer.

In general[edit]

What are the differences you observed between the university system in India and the university system in the U.S.?
What do you think have been the most successful aspects of the Wikipedia education program in India?
What do you think have been the least successful aspects of the Wikipedia education program in India?
What do you think are the most important changes we need to make immediately (within a month) to make the program more successful?
What do you think are the most important changes we need to make in the near future (by December 2011) to make the program more successful?

Faculty workshop[edit]

How did this workshop go in general? What topics were covered and what was the format of the workshop? What went well and what didn't go so well? What was surprising? What did the participants have most trouble with, and what were they most excited about? What were participating professors' feedback about this workshop?

Student reactions to Wikipedia assignment[edit]

How did students react when they heard that they'd be editing Wikipedia as part of class? How did this compare with the reactions of U.S. students? How do students feel about the Wikipedia assignment compared with traditional assignments?

Motivations for participating professors[edit]

What are the main motivations/incentives for the professors who are participating? Is any of them forced into participating? Has their motivation affected their class' performance so far at all?

Campus Ambassador involvement[edit]

In total, how many Campus Ambassadors have been selected currently in Pune? Of these, how many are trained? How many are active?

What distinguishes the active Campus Ambassadors from the inactive ones - in other words, what factors do you think led some Campus Ambassadors to be much more active than others? (e.g. is it due to the professor they're paired with? the setup of the class they're supporting? their own personality? age? something else?)

How exactly, in your opinion, can we motivate the less-active Campus Ambassadors to become more active?

In your opinion, how many Campus Ambassadors total should we have for the fall 2011 semester in order to adequately support all the participating classes? How many Online Ambassadors do you think we need?

Class performance[edit]

It appears that so far, one particular class has contributed a lot more content to Wikipedia than all the other classes - SSE's "Economics of the Social Sector, Year 2, Group A" class. What factors do you think led this class to be so much more successful than the others (so far)?

Some classes have fairly up-to-date course pages, with all students' usernames and articles listed. Other classes do not have thorough and updated course pages. What factors do you think led some classes to do a better job updating their course pages than others?

Student performance[edit]

What differences have you noticed between how participating students in India have performed so far and how participating U.S. students have performed? For example:

  • Any differences in how difficult/easy they find the Wikipedia-editing process to be?
  • Any differences in how they feel about the Wikipedia assignment?
  • Any differences in their research and writing abilities?
  • Any differences in their likelihood to meet deadlines related to the Wikipedia assignment?
  • Please add other differences you've observed!
