Summary

Description
English: Far end of Takapuna Beach, on coastal walkway. Pseudomorph (tree trunk covered then vaporised by molten basalt during Pupuke eruption) and small basalt cave (caused by crust hardening before the liquid basalt underneath). Colelctively, the fossil tree remains are known as the Takapuna fossil forest, and they start at the boat ramp end of Takapuna beach and extend northwards along the coastal walkway towards Milford.
