Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry.

Since October 2011, the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry, England has been collaborating with Wikimedia. It is the first ongoing Wikimedia collaboration outside of London, within the UK. The partnership has led to regular wiki-meets being held in the city.

This page includes resources for each of the completed projects that have taken place within the collaboration. More will be added as the project continues.

Specific case studies[edit]

As with many GLAM partnerships, the first public event was a Backstage Pass. It brought Wikimedians together with curatorial, conservational and archival staff from the museum, as well as other local institutions.

In March 2012, an edit-a-thon was organised to tie in with the image donation. Articles were created on historic places and people from Coventry and Warwickshire.
In September 2012, local Wikimedians organised the UK's first Wikipedia Takes... event (a one-day photo scavenger hunt). Over 2000 photos of historic buildings and places were uploaded by local amateur photographers for use in Wikipedia articles and elsewhere.
