ByJournal meets Wikipedia
On April 17, the article Circular permutation in proteins - about a way in which proteins evolve - was featured on the English Wikipedia's Main Page under DYK (Traffic stats). The article has recently been significantly expanded by way of an article in PLoS Computational Biology - the first in the new manuscript track for Topic Pages, which serve as the version of record for dynamically evolving Wikipedia entries. The initiative was also featured on the PLoS blog. In the meantime, another article within that manuscript track has been drafted, and other journals have signaled an interest in similar experiments.
Talks
The integration of Wikimedia and Open Access within the wider context of collaborative platforms for Open Science was the subject of two talks given at the Third International Conference on Open Access in Poland in Bydgoszcz on April 13, 2012 and at the Turkic Wikimedia Conference 2012 in Almaty on April 20, 2012.
