Author: Luisina Ferrante and Florencia Guastavino

Summary: Wikimedia Argentina Education and Human Rights Program participated, throug a video, in the education block of the National Conference of Wikimedia Poland. In this note, we share the experience.

Within the framework of the National Conference of Wikimedia Poland, we were invited by Klara Sielicka-Baryłka, Education Specialist of Wikimedia Poland, to participate in the education block.

Through a video, we share the experience of the Wikimedia Argentina Education and Human Rights Program, from its origins to the present day, addressing the different projects that we carry out in our country.

Our main objective was to highlight the importance of having an Education and Human Rights Program and to design and implement educational activities within the framework of this program. In the video, we relate our work to bring Wikimedia projects closer to the Argentine educational field, understanding the needs of the context and generating projects with local impact. Teachers are always our main ally and, together, we think about how to use Wikimedia projects as pedagogical tools and what links can be drawn with the curricular content.

In the context of social isolation and compulsory virtual education due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the existence of an Education and Human Rights Program was essential to continue to strengthen ties with the educational community and offer proposals that are useful for teachers and students in this particular context.

Thanks to Wikimedia Poland for the invitation!
