Education/Toolkit

From Outreach Wiki

Wikimedians and educators have taught students around the world to contribute to Wikimedia projects for more than ten years.

The Education Program Toolkit collects their shared knowledge and contains resources and strategies that they have tested and refined through their practice.

The toolkit aims to share best practices from the experiences of Wikimedia program leaders from around the world and aims to be a blueprint for designing successful Wikimedia Education Programs.

This toolkit was developed by the Learning & Evaluation team and the Education team at the Wikimedia Foundation, together with the Wikipedia Education Collaborative.

Within each section of the toolkit, there are strategies and solutions for each stage of an education program.

  1. Plan. This section has guides for beginning a program: planning a program, partnerships and participants, finding resources and designing for growth.
  2. Run. This section has guides to tech support, ideas for teaching and assignments and a guide to problem solving.
  3. Evaluate. This section includes help with global metrics and other evaluation tools and resources and strategies for storytelling.
  4. Connect. This section links to networks of volunteers who are already part of Wikipedia Education Programs as well as other Wikimedia programs around the world.
