Thelmadatter speaking at the 8th Congress of Innovation and Educational Technology in Monterrey

On December 14, 2013, Leigh Thelmadatter of Tec de Monterrey, Mexico City Campus was invited to present on work with Wikipedia done by Laura Pérez, Artemisa Martínez and the presenter with various language classes. This event brings together professors and other professors from the 31 campuses of the Tec de Monterrey, as well as international speakers such as Marc Prensky (Digital native/digital immigrant) and Jon Bergmann (flipped classroom) to exchange ideas on how to innovate in education and use technology more effectively. The presentation focused on two English classes and one Spanish for foreigner classes, discussing not only article writing, but also article evaluation, image uploads and descriptions and interacting with other Wikipedians as means to improve students' language skills at both the basic and advanced levels. Several professors from other campuses stayed after the presentation stayed behind to learn more about getting started with Wikipedia. It is also worthwhile to note that both Prensky and Bergmann expressed appreciation for Wikipedia during the conference.
