A new group of International Baccalaureate students at ITESM-Campus Ciudad de México has begun to work on Wikipedia projects as part of the CAS (Community, Action, Service) requirement for the Fall 2012 semester. This semester, one of the main focuses is a project to document (better) the 400 artist-members of Mexico’s Salón de la Plástica Mexicana. This is an honorary society of contemporary artists, which has included Diego Rivera, Leonora Carrington and Frida Kahlo. The cooperation is to create and improve articles on these artists in both English and Spanish, with the Salón assisting in gathering documentation on the artists (many of whom do not have presence on the Internet) as well as photographs. Completed articles in English and/or Spanish include Helen Bickham, Leonardo Méndez, Pedro Friedeberg and more.

In addition to work with the Salón, students have already attended events with Uriarte Talavera at the upscale department store Palacio de Hierro and the Museo del Objeto del Objeto. They have also taken photographs in relation to Wiki Loves Monuments and a Mexican folk dance event.

A complete list of activities can be seen at the Fall 2012 semester page.
