WikiXDC was a one-day symposium held at the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration main building on January 22, 2011. The event was part of Wikipedia 10th anniversary celebrations, while also serving as a kick-off for Wikimedia-NARA GLAM collaborations.

Most of the day consisted of presentations and lightning talks. In the morning, NARA staff gave presentations, allowing Wikimedians from DC (along with NYC and beyond) to learn more about how NARA works. NARA staff also gave behind-the-scenes tours. In the afternoon, Wikimedians presented on various topics, ranging from WikiProject Public art to the Linkypedia tool. The day ended with a social meetup at a nearby pub, allowing discussions to continue.

The day allowed NARA staff and Wikimedians to learn more about and understand one another better. In the months following, NARA established a paid Wikipedian-in-Residence student intern position, with better understanding of what the person could do and what to look for in candidates.
