University logos[edit]

If no one minds, I'll go ahead and do logos for the rest of the participating universities as well. Bob the Wikipedian (talk) 01:36, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Visual identity is poor[edit]

Wikipedia Wordmark

The white text "Wikipedia Education Program" on a black box background is very bland. It looks like the logo of a government issued re-education guide. We should at least make use of the Wikipedia wordmark.Smallman12q (talk) 00:44, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Remove some of these logos[edit]

@TFlanagan-WMF: What do you think of me removing all of the logos to the US/Canadian universities? We are no longer using those, and they will still exist on Commons if anyone ever wants them. Just seems like instead of using the education portal to link to every possible thing every associated with the Wikipedia Education Program, we may want to curate it a bit to what is useful. Do you oppose to me deleting those? Jami (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:46, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good question, Jami. I agree curation is best when we focus on key examples. It's also nice to showcase global diversity, including North America. I would lean towards cutting down on the number, but keeping a few to use as examples that could inspire other usage in other geographies? Are these visual identities still widely used in the US and Canada? If there are new iterations, we could showcase those as well.
@AKoval (WMF): @FKoudijs (WMF): @Selsharbaty (WMF): Anyone have strong feelings one way or the other?
Fixing your pinging, Tighe. I didn't actually get pinged they way they were coded before. Luckily, I stalk recent changes; otherwise, I wouldn't have seen this. :) Anna Koval (WMF) (talk) 11:49, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
Thanks for the question, Jami. I'd say, please keep all the Ivies and any other unis that are well known or widely recognizable. I've been asked many times by international educators: "What American universities have participated in the WIkipedia Education Program? And is there a list someplace if citation is needed?" TL;DR Bosses seem want to know this so that they can first be convinced and then brag. I've wanted for a long time to collect a list here in the education portal of all the universities that participated in the US/Canada WEP, including PPI. New Collab task, methinks? :) HTH, Anna Koval (WMF) (talk) 11:49, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for asking Jami, and thanks for helping us clean up! I also like Tighe's and Anna's idea of keeping some as examples for others to see, to showcase some great examples and worldwide diversity. Some clean-up would definitely be appreciated, though! Thanks so much! FKoudijs (WMF) (talk) 16:48, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Incorporate the Clubs for Wikipedians page[edit]

Just found this treasure: Clubs for Wikipedians. Jay and Jessie did such great work. <3 I think this content should be incorporated it into the Education Program's Visual Identity page somehow. For now, I've added it as a see also link. Anna Koval (WMF) (talk) 22:32, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
