Similar resolutions?[edit]

Are there similar resolutions we can reference in notes? Also, is there a realistic problem with them demanding all 300+ projects adopt a policy? Broadly though, I think it's a worthwhile pursuit. Varnent (talk) 10:51, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think this resolution is too specific, which makes it possibly "discriminatory" (so to say) unless we're going to make one for every single problem. The aim should probably be to expand the wmf:Pluralism, internationalism, and diversity policy in some way; models I liked when I looked for one to be proposed to my university are the Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Statement by the George Washington University and the University of California Diversity Statement (slightly different and not without problems of course). I understand that this proposal is considered a further action in LGBT Outreach Project/Safe space, but if needed it's perhaps more useful to demand to be pro-actively and officially "gay-friendly", as some universities do, rather than stressing the problem of homophobia. I think Nemo's point about looking at the language successfully used by higher education and corporations has huge value in this. I also agree that we'll need to do a lot of rewording - but I think it's a good start. Here are some links we may want to check out: sample policies from HRC and info from LGBT Higher Ed Consortium. --Varnent (talk) 23:01, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
