I'm interested in outreach work targeting secondary schools, so am popping this on my watchlist - I'm also trying to support the development of additional functionality which might allow schools to filter out some of the sexually explicit material on commons, so as to prohibit access by children. You can see a demo at FilterDemo (page on wikimedia commons, which displays a wide range of sexually explicit images recommended by Wikiproject:Erotica as not being suitable for kids - that link is 'not safe for work' therefore. - Unfortunately the demo above has been rejected by the commons community as 'spam' - there's quite a large degree of opposition within commons to progressing any proposal on filtering explicit images, or even developing a 'tagging' system which would allow others to develop such a filter. I feel this is problematic in encouraging schools to allow access to wikimedia projects unfortunately. You can see here a collection of images which I have proposed as being a good idea to 'tag' in some way - unfortunately it seems like this is not going to be possible in the foreseeable future.
