Talk:Wikipedia Loves Libraries
Add topicConcept of this project
[edit]I envision this project as a place for both librarians and library users. I propose that this project provide the following:
For librarians,
- An explanation of why Wikipedia matters targeted to librarians
- Advice on how to get librarian-targeted Wikipedia training
- Online guides for librarians hosting events (like editathons or Wikipedia training) in a library
- Ideas for collaboration with other organizational projects, such as with the Wikipedia Education Program or Wikipedians in Residence
For the library-using community,
- An explanation of why Wikipedia matters targeted to communities, with emphasis on community responsibility to contribute to Wikipedia
- Advice on how to persuade libraries to support the Wikipedia community
- Online guides for a community organizer to host in a library
- Links to collaborate with other community projects, like photo hunts or WikiProjects
Where has anyone else written a vision for this project? In the creation of this project, I think that it was initially a series of community-organized one-time events in libraries. I would like for this project to become a year-round outreach effort and also to include that yearly event during Open Access Week. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:35, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes. Can we maybe just move this to Libraries ? -- Phoebe (talk) 18:52, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- It bothers me that there's good information here on Outreach, and other information on WP (which, I would think a potential library would find inviting). Should there be clarification of the differences? -- Kosboot (talk) 18:55, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. Clarification & consolidation. I think this should be the global projects / multilingual / past projects repository? I'm (slowly) working on cleaning up & updating these pages. -- Phoebe (talk) 04:56, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

- Also, I love all of Lane's ideas. Maybe a "for wikipedians" tab? -- Phoebe (talk) 04:57, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

GLAMs saying they aren't getting email responses
[edit]Hi everyone. I'm reading the OTRS and we have a few emails from library professionals saying no one has replied to their emails via the WLL contact form. Please don't forget to check emails and so forth. I'm unclear on who to forward these messages to, so I'm taking a stab at it and doing my best. SarahStierch (talk) 17:32, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
Program not in effect?
[edit]Hi, I signed up for more information on Wikipedia Love Libraries a month ago--is the program no longer in effect? It would be really nice if you would put a banner or something on defunct projects :-). Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 20:59, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
