For Wikimedia communities, one of the principal uses of digitized material is to illustrate and contextualize the educational content on Wikimedia projects with media. One or two rare or hard to find images about a topic, town or community can greatly strengthen their global presence. Providing a workflow and strategy for Wikimedians and other members of the public to digitize on request leads to needed material being shared with the world.
