Antoni de Villarroel i Peláez (1656-1726) was a military commander in the service of the Habsburgs in the War of the Spanish Succession. As commander of the Army of Catalonia from 1713 to 1714, he organized the defense against the Siege of Barcelona. After the city fell, he was imprisoned by Philip V until his death. Very little is known about his appearance, except for the fact that he was more than 50 years old at the time of the siege. However, the Archive of the Crown of Aragon has a receipt for a uniform that Villarroel ordered in 1713.
