Add topicHello,
I scanned the Create an account bit and one thing struck me, but not being a native English speaker, I wondered if I may be mistaken. Should it not be "a watchlist", instead of just "watchlist". As in:
- "You also get access to useful features, such as a watchlist."
At least the times I have talked to others about the watchlist function, it is with an article (definite or indefinite). But it may be my crazy foreign background :-) //Hannibal 09:57, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Hello - Im so sorry it's taken me so very long to reply. I apologize.
To your question: In the case of standard proper English you are absolutely right. Your understanding of the grammar is perfect.
Normally a noun such as watchlist would be preceded by an article. As in, a book list, a class list, a member list. However, we are being a bit loose with the language and are treating watchlist not as a common item, but as a special term. As if the idea and the word had both been Invented by Wikipedia. Leaving out the article makes the word NOT one of many similar things. Instead the word is treated as something specific, special, a one-of-a-kind item that required a new treatment of the word to express its unique quality and its special relationship to Wikipedia.
I hope my explanation hadn't caused more confusion for you. Thanks for your feedback. //Chvaza 20:50, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Answering your questions

Recent removal of rights
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to leave a formal note as a follow-up to an e-mail that you might received many hours ago about the removal of your rights from this site. Per a admittedly very brief discussion on the Village pump, multiple users supported cleaning up the list, both on and off the page. My goal of doing this was to get a better count of who was an active administrator, as well as purge the list in a move that is in line with other WMF wikis. However, should you still wish to be an administrator on Outreach, please leave me a message on my talk page, and I will promptly restore your rights as soon as I see the message. Thank you for your contributions to this site, and have a great day. Kevin Rutherford (talk)
