Introduction to MoMA
By Pharos
Museum of Modern Art
[edit]A collaboration was started in June and July with the Museum of Modern Art in NYC as WikiProject MoMA, with Richard Knipel as a very part-time Wikipedian in Residence. Online WikiProject Ambassadors have been recruited as wiki-specialists in the various genres of modern art. Efforts have been made to organize the collection on-wiki as with works in the Department of Painting and Sculpture, and for having new articles highlighted on Wikipedia's Main Page starting with Le Déjeuner en fourrure (a pioneering Surrealist fur-covered teacup).
A special emphasis of this program is educational outreach, with an emerging ITP Wikipedia Club at the NYU Interactive Telecommunications Program, and a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador program course at the City University of New York, both focused on articles on industrial designs in the museum collection and a planned tour and editathon around a related new exhibition (Talk to Me: Design and the Communication between People and Objects).
