Name[edit]

I have in mind calling any group which exists to do Wikipedia outreach a Wikipedia Center. "Wikipedia center" is the current best proposal for a name for this. Blue Rasberry (talk) 21:18, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Projects[edit]

Centers do projects. Right now, there is no distinction in Wikipedia terminology between projects and organizing groups. There ought to be. For example, the Wikipedia Education Program could either refer to the center or the work itself. We ought to make a distinction. Blue Rasberry (talk) 21:18, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Scope[edit]

What would a group like this do? Is this to be the generic term for any group of Wikipedians who meets regular? Are chapters instances of the the "Wikilyceum"? What about regular meetups not affiliated with any chapter? If there is a group of students who participate in the Wikipedia Education Program does that make a Wikilyceum?

Is there an expected behavior for a Wikilyceum? If someone is participating in Wiki Loves Monuments or any other such program and they go to any lyceum, should they expect to get support or a referral to support, or might lyceums exist in a vacuum from the larger Wikipedia community?

Do lyceums specifically need to serve the education program? Is the lyceum something new, or is it just a set of proposed guidelines and and a collection of online resources for what has always been called a meetup? Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:08, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
