Summary of the 2017 WMF Education team Asia Site Visit

In December 2017, Nichole Saad, Education Program Manager at the Wikimedia Foundation, conducted site visits in three countries in Asia to better understand the context of implementing education programs at the school level and how the WMF can best support these kinds of programmatic activities. Nepal, India, and Taiwan, benefited from institutional visits, focus group discussions with educators, and workshops for local Wikimedians. Overall, along with local program leaders, we visited 11 institutions and spent 82 hours with Wikimedians working on planning and problem solving in local contexts, in addition to providing workshops to Wikimedians, educators, and students. The following report provides an overview of why this trip took place, the activities that happened, the impact of those activities, and what will happen going forward.
