Before you start

  • Select an image to use on your template.
    • The image can be a photo of your GLAM building, your logo, or a representative work in your collection.
    • The image should have a horizontal (landscape) orientation or be nearly square.
    • The image should be recognizable at a small size (57px and smaller).
    • Upload the image to Commons if it is not already there. How To
  • Decide whether your project's participants category should be called "participants", "members", "volunteers", or something else.
  • Choose colors for your userbox. You will specify the color by name or by hex code.

Make a new template page

  • Create a new page called Template:User WP GLAM GLAMABBR, where GLAMABBR is the acronym or short form of your GLAM name.
  • Copy this text to your page and make the edits below:

  • Change all instances of GLAMABBR to the acronym or short form of your GLAM name.
  • Change GLAMNAME to the name of your GLAM.
  • Replace "File:People icon half.svg" in the id parameter with your chosen image file.
  • If desired, change "participants" to "members", "volunteers", or whatever term your project uses.
  • If desired, change the id-c parameter to the color name or hex code of the color that will border your image.
  • If desired, change the info-c parameter to the color name or hex code of the background color for your text block.
  • Preview and Save your work.

Make new categories if needed

  • If any category links on your new template page are red, create the categories.
  • If the [[GLAMNAME-related templates]] link is red, click the redlink.
    • Choose "Edit this page"
    • In the text area, type [[Category:GLAMNAME-related templates|Templates]]
    • Preview and Save your work.
  • If the [[Wikipedia:GLAM/GLAMABBR participants]] link is red, click the redlink.
    • Choose "Edit this page"
    • In the text area, type [[Category:Wikimedia-GLAMNAME collaboration|Participants]]
      • If your project has a master category called something else, use that category name.
      • Replace "Participants" with "Members", "Volunteers", etc. if desired.
    • Preview and Save your work.
  • If the [[Category:Wikimedia-GLAMNAME collaboration]] link is red, click the redlink.
    • Choose "Edit this page"
    • In the text area, type [[Category:Wikipedia cultural sector content projects|GLAMABBR]]
    • Preview and Save your work.
