a report from the 2017 site visit to Nepal, India, and Taiwan


Below are the institutions we engaged with, by country. The information was provided by the local focal points.


Nepal

Ullens School[edit]

The Ullens School is a non-profit school situated in Khumaltar, Lalitpur, Nepal, 1 km away from the Kathmandu ring road. Ullens School is accessible from any part of Kathmandu by public transport. It was established in 2006. It has classes from kindergarten to grade 10 and IB Diploma also

Mr. Medin Lamichhane, Principal of the school . Ms. Nichole Saad from Wikimedia foundation and Mr. Saroj Dhaka from Wikimedians of Nepal attended the meeting.

Nepal Open University[edit]

Nepal Open University formally established in 2016 in Nepal, with endorsement of Nepal Open University act by the parliament of Nepal. This is the premier Open University in Nepal with a legal status to other universities in the country.It has its main campus in Lalitpur, Nepal. Prof. Lekhnath Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the University. Ms. Nichole Saad from Wikimedia Foundation and Mr. Saroj Dhakal from Wikimedians of Nepal attended the meeting.

Deerwalk Sifal School[edit]

Deerwalk Sifal School was founded in 2016.Deerwalk Sifal School is determined to help their students grow as a good global citizen with solid academic skill in language, math, science and analytical and creative skills.

They had Wikipedia Education Programs with their students and Their Teachers later and plan to run Wikipedia Education program themselves in a regular fashion. Ms. Maya Ogasawara, Director of the Deerwalk Sifal School, all the Wikipedia education teachers, Ms. Nichole Saad from Wikimedia Foundation and Mr. Saroj Dhakal from Wikimedians of Nepal attended the meeting.

Rato Bangala School[edit]

Rato Bangala is a co-educational day school that also houses a teacher training institute. It strives to replicate its innovative teaching methods and quality instruction (called the Rato Bangala Method) in schools across Nepal. Ms. Milan Dixit Principal of Ratobangala School and Ms. Santa Dixit Director of Rato Bangala School,Ms. Nichole Saad from Wikimedia Foundation and Mr. Saroj Dhakal from Wikimedians of Nepal attended the meeting.

Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya[edit]

Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya is one of the biggest schools of Nepal, undertaking of Army Welfare Trust a pro bono wing of Nepal Army. School is located in Bhaktapur.
