This hat comes from BergsjΓΆ parish in HΓ€lsingland. It was made in the 1850βs.
The Stockholm-based Nordic Museum, dedicated to Swedish ethnography and cultural history, has released another large batch of images under an open licence. That's how Wikimedia Commons came into possession of 8000 photographs of hats. There are some mittens and pants and whatnot thrown in for a good measure, but honestly, it's mostly just hats β very old and very pretty hats, covered in elegant embroidery. They come from different regions of Sweden, illustrating the colorful richness and diversity of our folk costume.
