BHL-Wiki Working Group June monthly highlights
Chairpersons proposed presentation at Wikimania
Although the chairperson’s abstract on the BHL-Wiki working group was not selected for Wikimania 2024 information on the BHL-Wiki working group may still be presented at the pre conference GLAM meeting likely to be held at Katowice on the 6th of August.
Wikimedian in Residence
Progress is continuing to be made confirming the Wikimedian in Residence scope of work document as well as the work needed to be completed before undertaking the Wikimedian in Residence solicitation.
Type specimen data model and Biodiversity topic matrix
The BHL-Wiki working group agreed that separate meetings were needed to help progress Type Specimen data model best practice documentation. The BHL-Wiki working group are also keen on creating a topic matrix for biodiversity similar to that currently in existence for the topic of women’s health. It is likely separate meetings will also be needed to progress this.
A meeting was held with staff from the Flickr Foundation to help guide them on the proposed draft data model for BHL images in WikiCommons. The aim was to assist with development of the Flickypedia tool and to support it providing appropriate structured data on commons for uploads of BHL Flickr images into WikiCommons.
Next meeting
The next meeting of the BHL-Wiki working group will be held on at 11am PST on Monday the 15th of July. More information and the link to this zoom meeting can be found on the agenda document.
