Wikipedians in Residence, GLAM Wiki Conference

The successful end of the second month of the Wikipedian in residence project at the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia marks a period of great achievement. Over this very productive month, a total of 304 new articles were written on Serbian Wikipedia. These articles give a good view of important exhibitions and biographies of esteemed members affiliated with the Association.
A total of 188 catalogs were digitized and uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. This concerted effort not only preserves the rich history encapsulated within these catalogs but also makes them widely accessible to a global audience. By digitizing these catalogs, this project not only contributes to the dissemination of artistic knowledge but also reinforces the commitment to fostering an open and collaborative approach to cultural documentation.
As the second month draws to a close, the Wikipedian in residence stands as a testament to the power of collaborative efforts in enriching and expanding the cultural heritage documented online. The synergy between the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia and Wikimedia Serbia continues to be a beacon of progressive engagement in the realm of cultural preservation and dissemination.
Wikipedian in residence at the National Museum of Kraljevo
As the curtains close on the second month of our engaging Wikipedian in residence at the National Museum of Kraljevo, we are proud of the substantial impact and accomplishments achieved during this period. A total of 58 new articles were written on Serbian Wikipedia. These articles delve into the rich history of Kraljevo and Serbia in general, presenting detailed biographies of numerous renowned individuals from Kraljevo and its surrounding areas. The inclusion of these biographies not only adds depth to our understanding of the region but also serves as a tribute to the notable figures who have left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape.
Furthermore, the project has been dedicated to the enhancement of existing content, with 34 articles being improved. This commitment to refining and expanding information ensures that our digital cultural heritage remains comprehensive and accurate, providing an invaluable resource for those seeking insights into the historical and cultural nuances of Kraljevo.
In a concerted effort to make this wealth of information widely accessible, a total of 330 files have been uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. These files, ranging from images to documents, serve as visual and textual anchors, enriching the digital landscape with authentic glimpses into the cultural and historical heritage encapsulated within the National Museum of Kraljevo.
GLAM Wiki Conference
Spanning from November 16 to 18, the GLAM Wiki Conference was held in Montevideo, Uruguay, serving as a dynamic space for the convergence of ideas and insights within the GLAM Wiki enthusiast and Cultural institutions. The conference delved into many crucial topics, spotlighting the GLAM program's evolution, the seamless integration of artificial intelligence into Wiki projects, and the envisioned trajectory of the program in the future.
Gorana Gomirac, the representative of Wikimedia Serbia was presenting the contributions of the Wikimedia Serbia GLAM Program. With a particular emphasis on the Wikipedian In Residence project, the role as one of the program's keystones, underscoring its significance as a catalyst for fostering collaboration, knowledge dissemination, and cultural preservation was highlighted.
Amidst the enriching discussions, the Let's Connect program spearheaded two insightful sessions during the GLAM-Wiki Conference. These sessions encouraged in-depth dialogues surrounding the intricate web of partnerships between Wikimedia affiliates and cultural institutions. Participants engaged in conversations, exploring the multifaceted challenges that affiliates encounter in the implementation of their activities, especially in the field of digitizing cultural heritage. The collaborative exchange not only illuminated shared obstacles but also paved the way for innovative solutions and strengthened bonds between the Wikimedia affiliates and cultural institutions.
