Uploads of photographs taken by Swedish missionaries in China; Sörmlands museum's first contributions

The National Museums of World Culture have continued during January to upload newly digitized photographs taken by Swedish missionaries in China. It is a huge collection, it contains more than 20 000 physical images. So far more than 3000 of the China photographs have been scanned and they have continously been uploaded to Wikimedia. In January 250 new files from Xinjiang were uploaded. All the China images so far have been sciopticons (slides) and most of have been colourized. The staff has also continued to write new and improve old articles on Wikipedia. An intern who was fluent in Thai wrote articles for the four museums in the organization with a focus on collections from Thailand: Museum of Ethnography, Museum of Mediterranenan, Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities and Museum of World Culture.

Sörmlands museum's first contributions
As part of their Wikimedian-in-Residence project with Biblioteksutveckling Sörmland, Sörmlands museum has now uploaded the first images from their collections on Wikimedia Commons. Among the first images are several high-resolution scans of historical maps of Södermanland region and its cities as well as a photographies taken by Victoria of Baden, Queen of Sweden (1862-1930) during her travels to Italy in the early 1900s. One of the highlights is a painting by Tyra Kleen, an artist whose works have become part of the Public Domain in 2022.
