Women in Red: collaboration with The National Library in Norway and Oslo Metropolitan University
Student writing biographies
In a continued collaboration between Wikimedia Norge, The National Library in Oslo and Oslo Metropolitan University, a group of nine students will this semester contribute to the Women in Red project. Together with The National Library, we have defined four areas with a very poor coverage of women's biographies on Wikipedia, which reflects the poor coverage on this areas in history in general. The areas are:
- Norwegian Women's movement
- Authors of children and youth fiction
- Norwegian fiction translators
- Immigrant literature (from around the Middle Ages to 1945)
The National Library will guide the students in using sources from their collection to write the biographies and Wikimedia Norge will help with trainings in Wikipedia editing. This is the second semester this project is offered as an elective for library- and archive students at Oslo Metropolitan University. We look forward to working with the students and read the articles they will write or improve.
