Since 2015 Wikimedia Norge has run an intern program for library- and archive students from Oslo Metropolitan University welcoming two students a year for about 6 weeks. The National Library in Oslo also welcomes several students a year for internships. Building on the projects the students have done on different Wikimedia projects and experience we have on what makes an internship interesting and beneficial for both parties, Wikimedia Norge will together with The National Library be part of a new elective subject offered for library- and archive students starting August 2018.
The intern in January-February 2018, Anette Faksnes, worked on project to add items on Wikidata on Sami authors. She was the first intern to work with us on a Wikidata project. After her internship was over she wrote a great article for the Norwegian journal Bibliotekaren explaining why Wikidata is interesting for librarians.
@Astrid Carlsen (WMNO): This sounds like a great program! Would you be interested in sharing that as a case study? I have heard of several different organizers using student interns to work on Wikimedia projects for GLAMs, but it would be really great to have the hybrid education/GLAM perspective shared in a case study Astinson (WMF) (talk) 20:12, 12 March 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
