Science History Institute
Sadly, the Science History Institute in Philadelphia, PA has cut 16 positions, including that of Wikipedian in Residence, for budgetary reasons. Mary Mark Ockerbloom has served as Wikipedian in Residence for the past seven years, releasing 1,481 images from the Institute's events and collections on Commons and averaging 1-2 new articles, deep editing of 5-6 more articles, and hundreds of small edits on Wikipedia and Wikidata each month. She has worked with numerous people and organizations throughout the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley area, via invited talks, workshops, edit-a-thons, and monthly WikiSalons.
Mary Mark Ockerbloom and Doreva Belfiore will continue to host a monthly Philadelphia WikiSalon online on a volunteer basis independent of the Science History Institute. Each meeting includes a demonstration, as well as opportunities to ask questions and discuss articles needing work. Doreva Belfiore has been creating short instructional videos, each a few minutes long, focusing on Wikipedia skills of interest to librarians and archivists.
