Full catalog of Impressionist painter Eliseu Visconti into Wikidata and Commons
ByEliseu Visconti (1866-1944) was an Italian-Brazilian Impressionist painter and designer. Having studied at the School of Arts and Craft and Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro, he complemented his artistic training at École Guérin and Julian Académie both in Paris. Among his main works is the decoration of the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro.
The opportunity for the development of a GLAM-Wiki initiative was identified by the availability in the public domain of the artist's vast work and by the existence of a thematic website on the subject, which houses a complete catalogue raisonné of all Visconti's known work [1].
The partnership between the director of the website and the Wiki Movimento Brasil was established in March 2019, with the aim of making available images, improving existing articles and developing new entries on the subject.
So far, the complete collection of the artist was uploaded to Wikidata and Commons, with almost 2,000 items. A specific portal to get involved with the project was created, in which tasks are coordinated to improve content on Wikipedia pertaining to Visconti [2]. Uploads generated 427,667 page views during the month of March 2019, and 1,257 pages on 16 wikis projects use those files [3].
It is estimated that the entries on Eliseu Visconti and his works are seen at least 1 million times a month until the end of the project, scheduled for the end of 2019
An edit-a-thon on the painter is being planned for the second semester of 2019.
