Swiss GLAM Programme
By2023
The Swiss GLAM Team is currently finishing the organisation of the overall 2023 GLAM Programme. We look forward to all the events, campaigns and partnerships with the GLAM institutions.
For 2023, we will focus on the Museums and the new definition released by the ICOM. This axis will allow us to address challenges such as sustainability, knowledge and gender equity, and many more.
We also wish to engage ourselves in the 175th anniversary of the Swiss Federal Constitution. Free access to unbiased knowledge is a cornerstone to a democratic society. It is an occasion for Wikimedia CH to highlight the mission of the GLAM institutions and the importance of free knowledge.
Wiki-Atelier at Ballyana
The 28th January, we held our first Wiki-Atelier for 2023 at the Ballyana.
The purpose of the Foundation is to collect and preserve documents and objects of all kinds related to the history of the Bally family and/or companies. Bally is a Swiss shoe manufacturer founded in 1851 by Carl Franz Bally in Schönenwerd in the canton of Solothurn. The company initially produced women's and men's shoes, and later also accessories.
Since 2000, the Ballyana Foundation has been collecting everything connected with Bally: shoes and boxes, advertisements and posters, old and still functioning machines (including the oldest Sulzer steam engine in Switzerland), objects from production, written documents and materials on local history.
This Wiki-Atelier allowed the participants to have access to the objects and the archives preserved by the GLAM institution. It allowed them to better and create several articles in the German Wikipedia. For more information, you may read the Project page (in German).
