How should I connect with the GLAM-Wiki community?
If you are a cultural professional or a Wikimedian interested in discussing cultural partnerships, please join the open GLAM mailing list by clicking this link: GLAM
If you are interested in North American cultural partnerships, please consider also joining the open GLAM-US mailing list by clicking this link:GLAM-US
If you are a Wikimedian interested in discussing cultural partnerships, please join the cultural-partnerships-l mailing list by following the instructions below.
If you are on Facebook, the following groups are high signal to noise, and have become more important channels for communication:
- GLAM-Wiki Global: a group focused on Global GLAM collaboraiton and questions
- Wikipedia + Libraries: a group focused on the partiuclar examples and applications of Wikimedia projects in libraries
- Wikidata + GLAM: a group focused on Wikidata applications in GLAM-Wiki
If you are a Wikimedian interested in discussing cultural partnerships, please join the cultural-partnerships-l mailing list by following the instructions below. Wikimedians are encouraged to join the active conversations there. It is a closed list only so that we may discuss not-yet-public, forthcoming projects and honestly analyse past projects. Please note that this list is for Wikipedians, not for GLAM staff members. Exceptions can be made in the following cases -
- you are an active Wikipedian who also happen to work at a GLAM
- you are a staff member of a free cultural non-profit organization (but not directly on staff at a GLAM institution).
How to request access to the closed list
- Note: You do not need to request access here if you just want to join the open lists!
The closed list is meant for discussions that may refer to future objectives or some other subject that one does not want to appear (yet) in public archives. If what you want to say in an email is not sensitive in this way, please post it in the appropriate public list (which also has a much broader reach). The closed list is meant for Wikimedians only. Representatives of GLAM organisations may also request subscription, but only if they are also Wikimedians in their own right.
New subscription requests to this list should be proposed here listing: Name, username, home wiki and/or Chapter and a brief description of your Wikimedia work that relates to GLAM outreach.
Please be sure to add the email-address if you would like to be subscribed. If you are not interested in your e-address appearing on this page, please send it to osamadrehotmail.com.
Subscription requests will be notified to the mailing list and give a few days for comment. No support/oppose voting is required and unless comments or questions are raised (which can be answered by the requester here) then a request will be approved.

A Dutch Wikipedian since 2014, user:Mtmlan84, I am appointed as Wikipedian in Residence for Erfgoed Gelderland, a Dutch provincial heritage organisation that supports its members in sharing their collections as open data. My assignment is to help seven small heritage institutions to share their collections on the Wiki-projects and find a way in which this can be done structurally. My e-mail is m.vanlanschoterfgoedgelderland.nl.
Member of the WMCH chapter, long time open source contributor (mainly open hardware projects) and since 2010 active in the volunteer based Public Domain Project which collects, digitizes and make available music records in high quality which are in the public domain. Our project is similarly organized as Wikipedia and shares the same vision. All our digitized music files are available on commons. We are working on colaborations with GLAMs and are also sharing our knowledge with other efforts. Our project is also a funding member of the Wikimedia Digitization User Group. Brazilian Wikimedia volunteer (My User at Commons is different, User:Rodrigo.Argenton, old accounts, not global at the time)...
Hey guy, Brazilians are starting some GLAM activities (sample 1 2, yeap, two different WUG...), I'm in a conversation to another museum. And I'm old at Commons so I interacted with GLAM projects there, and when I was at Wikimedia Brazil (2008-2013†), I read a lot about GLAM, so I'm helping in the best I can, however some infos are not that clear, and would be good to have more knowledge in Brazilian community. I am from Estonia and I have been working in several Estonian museums on jobs related to exhibitions and photographic collections. For recent years I've dedicated myself to building a crowdsourcing geotagging platfrom Ajapaik.ee (it is run by the Estonian Photographic Heritage Society of which I am one of the founding members). I haven't been an active contributor to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons yet but we are looking into connecting Ajapaik to Wiki ecosystem (first steps were made at Hack4.fi, see on Github). I am member of thw WMEE and I intend to start contributing to the GLAMwiki initiatives in Estonia. I also took part in Wikimania 2016. Puik (talk) 12:55, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
